only one drawback, there was a set menu for Lidl guests and I felt the selection was very poor, food was excellent but not enough of a choice. However, we wont display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things): To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. There is a lot of history with the Castle and grounds. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Treated like a princess for a day. the selection and quality of food in the restaurant was poor and the a bit pricey . It also would have been nice to have the fires lit in the library bar and dining room as it was quite cold. We are into walking so this was a perfect base so some really lovely hikes. Thanks, The food was lovely - we ate at both the dungeon bar and the dining room (dinner & breakfast). Ann, Very pleasant stay, staff very helpfull and friendly. All said and done, I would return to the castle in the winter months when all those beautiful fireplaces would be burning brightly. Our room was gorgeous, bathroom spotless and lovely white fluffy towels! . Overall, it was a nice experience to stay in a castle for the night, breakfast next day was very nice but there was a huge queue of people waiting to go in and we had to have it in the bar and staff were flying round the place. Excellent nights stay food was lovely, you could wonder around, very informal, breakfast lovely. We were delighted wwith our room and the staff were very helpful. Archery and horseriding with Noel was fun group activity, and he was hilarious. Your definitive guide to Ireland on the web, Restaurant or Pub Categories: International Restaurants, Irish Restaurants and Steak and Seafood Restaurants. We got a lovely suite which was lovely and warm. We were a family of 4, so needed 2 rooms. Guests can also give separate subscores in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free WiFi. There some dead flies littered around the windows and some cobwebs around the room. We were changed to another room but these type of slip ups should not happen in such a beautiful place. With decor and atmosphere resembling an old Irish Pub. But apart from that it was well worth the money. WOULD DEFINATELY STAY AGAIN. On arrival at 5PM on Saturday we were shown to rooms with no heating on. STAFF REALLY FRIENDLY AND LOADS OF ATMOSPHERE IN THE PLACE. Our only negative comment would be that the bar beside dining room is way too bright and because of that there is a cold atmosphere in there even with the fire lit, felt it would be much cosier in there if lights could be dimmed and candles lit on tables. excellent hotel very relaxing place to stay good food and friendly staff. We were encouraged to look around the Castle and night time and explore. A bit small but still they were okay.

Hotel was ok .

monk was on a go slow when I stayed by the way, cut backs everywhere. Rooms were not quite what I expected. We also enjoyed getting to know the property's cat and horses. Lords breakfast was just ok. Heating should have been on before guests arrived. The bank took over the Estate from the Ryan family (a former wealthy family I guess?) Front desk made my dinner reservations - everything was perfect!!! We simply did not get to enjoy the full experience- though we were expected to pay full price. The food was delicious and the library bar was a fantastic spot to sit down in front of an open fire, have a pint, and read a book. is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses. )W5y$7 Rm9NY"BP(T I really liked this but perhaps it may not appeal to everyones taste. However the staff were lovely, especially in the library bar - they went out of their way to accomodate us. The room we had was lovely but ensuite was mouldy and damp. We enjoyed the sympathetic decor of this castle- made it feel very authentic and charming. had a great say at kinnitty with my family. The food was fine but the choice was non-existant, only one dessert and would have preferred waitress service, there was supposed to be traditional irish music in the bar but there wasn't which again was disappointing. The walks around the grounds were excellent, great for leisurley stroll. The table in the Library bar we used was not very clean, quite sticky. So an attempt to have a bath was made but there was no cold water, only hot! It was still a fantastic spot to stay and I would recommend it to anyone. Food was lovely. The castle is amazing to look at and we took a drive nearby where there are lots of lovely forest walks and the slieve bloom mountains are fabulous. As we got the room on a special price, I feel I may have got my moneys worth. couldn't have been better, from the staff to the food all set in such a beautiful location! Everything! The staff as well as the food would get a 4.5 out of 5 if there was a seperate rating section for hospitality so very well done in that area! It is in a beautiful location with beautiful grounds. But you had to be up early to get a choice of bread with your breakfast. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The bath is in the middle of the room and was raised a couple of centimeteres on bathroom tiles, so the bath moved if you were having a shower. I felt like a Queen! I also agree that there could be T.V. Staff were very helpful and friendly, food in both bar and restaurant was really good and great value, we were very happy with our room, we stayed in the ballybritt room. We will certainly be going againabsolute value for money. all the tables in the dining hall are wobbly so again our drinks almost spilled and the lit candle on the table was a fire hazzard, be careful with the 2 course meal deal, if you order chips instead of potatoes its classed as extra, the castle itself is beautiful but needs to be updated as the stairs is not good for older people, there is no lifts and the flight to the top is a killer!! The staff were so nice, especially the barman in the Library Bar and the night porter on the Sat night. Staff are lovely, especially the lady that served us in the dining room. Your current language is English (US). Lovely staff and lovely peaceful surroundings - come here if you want to chill out away from the hustle and bustle. Review by Lorraine.

Had we being checking in on the Saturday night it would have caused a major problem as they were fully booked. However, I was disappointed with a couple of things, the bed mattress in the Butler Suite is very uncomfortable and the bed creaks loudly at every slight movement so not the peaceful nights sleep i was looking forward to.

Everything you could wish for. The rooms in the castle are amazing it is like going back in time 5 stars excellent thank you. Food not Michelin star but very well cooked and presented. We stayed 2 nights here and enjoyed it immensely. Live music in bar. Lovely Hotel ,medieval atmosphere also the food is very good and staff very helpful, we will be back 5 stars. Room needs some serious overhauling furniture and fixings . The building in general could do with a deep clean, the windows in the Butler Suite are filthy. Manager is very nice and I wish her all the best. Will definitelly be back again this year at the great price available with Lidl Breaks. The food in the bar wasn't great. I really love the castle but feel it has gone down hill since our first stay, Some of the staff could take a course in hospitatility skills and on the other hand other really try and go out of their way. Very helpful and friendly. Regrettably, based on our experience we could not recommend this hotel to any potential customer. fabulous dinner and cooked breakfast. interesting place, staff very friendly and helpful and the location was lovely. The site is beautiful, with forest walks and even a stone circle behind the castle. Wonderful setting and staff..couldn't fault it. Will be back again for sure. Staff were very friendly, food was ok. Food was lovely. Breakfast near the window. Definitely recommend a stay here. the mattresses may need some updating but not something that an extra blanket cannot fix, the staff are very accommodating (special mention to the sli dala and library bar staff ann and eimear and one of the cleaning ladies who told us some of the stories about the castle but i am afraid i didn't get her name), the rooms especially the state rooms stunning and spacious, the food delicious (and i mean scrumptious), ancient relics/antiques all around the castle, the forest and slieve bloom mountain near the premises (and yes, they truly are worth a trek) and hallways and a dungeon worth a visit at night. is part of Booking Holdings Inc., the world leader in online travel and related services. In the grounds behind the castle if you go for a walk there were some dilapidated buildings and the surrounds are not as manicured as other hotel grounds but that didn't in any way detract from our stay. We were staying with our 4 month old daughter and the room was extremely small. The staff could not be more helpful and the food was superb. It is a castle in all the true sense, open fires, long rambling halls, great art and off course the resident ghost. We had awesome conversations with staff and had the chance to head traditional music! Dinner was superb. So in the end I would love to give it 4.5 stars but have to be fair and give it 3 as the banks are not putting the money into the place where it needs it. However, we had to climb a very steep stairs to get to our room on the top floor which would be difficult for anyone older or with a disability.
